COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A University of Missouri fraternity that was on disciplinary probation has been removed from campus.

MU spokesman Christian Basi said the national fraternity organization removed the local chapter of Delta Sigma Phi from campus. Basi said the MU Student Conduct Committee had found the fraternity guilty of violating campus policy and recommended that it lose recognition for at least three years.

The fraternity is part of an active police investigation, Basi said but did not provide details.

Seven MU fraternities are on probation, completing sanctions or suspended, according to MU's website.

Delta Sigma Phi was placed on probation in August after university officials found the chapter had a party without following COVID-19-related rules such as wearing masks and social distancing.

The national fraternity did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. A phone number listed for the fraternity house was disconnected.
