Lincoln University national alumni association to change name, operate ‘independently’ from school
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Lincoln University of Missouri Alumni Association will change its name after reaching an agreement with the school’s Board of Curators, the university announced in a Tuesday press release.
Lincoln University in Jefferson City cut ties with its national alumni association last year after it had concerns about the group’s finances and management. LUAA was given a list of items by the school to complete last year to begin reaffiliation.
Tuesday’s release states that the national alumni association and its affiliated chapters will have to stop using the school’s name and other trademarks “across all platforms” by July 31. LUAA and LU will operate independently from each other, the release says.
“This legal dispute was resolved without either party admitting liability or the validity of the other party’s claims,” the release says.
