JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Lincoln University Board of Curators on Monday approved retention bonuses for employees and announced adjustments for book fees.

A memo from the board sys a one-time retention payment of $1,250 will be made to all full-time and permanent employees who’ve worked for the school since June 30 and will be working for the school on Jan. 1. A $750 bonus will be made to part-time employees who worked during the same period.

The university will also enter a new book program that would assess a $30 per credit hour fee up to 12 credit hours, the memo says.

The memo says the school is under contract with Follett Higher Education Group, LLC and that the company approached staff last spring that customers that have fewer than $750,000 in sales per year will be moved to the Follett ACCESS program. The memo says the school asked to postpone the program until the 2025 spring semester.

“The way the new program works is that the university would continue to work with Follet to provide books for all students, but the program would assess a $30 per credit hour fee to a maximum of $340 per semester,” the meme states. “That fee would ensure students have all the books required for their classes.”

The memo says students can opt out of the program.
