The Hallsville School District may soon switch to a four-day school week.

According to the agenda for the Hallsville Board of Education, board members plan to vote on the proposal Wednesday night. The board of education meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. in the primary school cafeteria.

The school district requested feedback from students, families, and staff through a survey sent out earlier this month. According to the survey, more than 50% of parents of current students preferred the switch.

The school district also received feedback from nearly 200 employees. According to the data, more than 66% of staff are in favor of a four-day school week.

Board members are expected to pick from five different proposed school year calendars at Wednesday night's meeting.

Board members previously turned down a four-day school week proposal in a 4-to-3 vote more than two years ago. The school district had planned to use the previous proposal as a recruitment tool for teachers.
