Jefferson City Schools plan for winter weather, snow days
Road conditions, weather forecasts, input from city and county public works and local media outlets are taken into consideration when Jefferson City Schools decides to have a snow day.
Winter weather can cause the district to have a late start, early dismissal, cancel school or follow snow routes.
- Late Start: two hour delayed start & buses run two hours late
- Early Dismissal: two or three hour early dismissal & buses adjust in accordance. JC Schools will announce early dismissal in the morning
- No School: class canceled for all students in all buildings
- Snow Routes: buses will run different routes due to road conditions
JC Schools had 10 school days impacted by winter weather last year, including late starts, early dismissals, and school cancellations, according to district records.
The 2018-19 school year tied for the highest number of school days impacted by winter weather since 1975.

JC Schools said it will notify families through text, phone call and email about school day changes due to winter weather. The district will also post on its website, Facebook and Twitter.
