No injuries reported after trash can catches fire at Shepard Boulevard Elementary in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fire was reported in a trash can at Shepard Boulevard Elementary in Columbia on Thursday.

According to an email sent from Columbia Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Rodriguez, firefighters were called to the school at 11:36 a.m. and the first unit arrived within four minutes. The department did not say what caused the fire, but they are investigating.

No injuries were reported, Rodriguez said. According to an email sent to parents, the fire occurred in a bathroom and students were temporarily evacuated.
