Candidate-filled applications for Columbia Board of Education seat released by district

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

With the application period for the open seat on the Columbia Board of Education now closed, Columbia Public Schools has released the applications filled out by each candidate.

Thirteen people in total applied for the open seat.

The Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to go over the applications and determine which cnadidates will be interviewed on Wednesday, according to an email from CPS spokesperson Michelle Baumstark. Both meetings are available to the public.

The board will vote June 12 on the appointment, according to the CPS website. The seat became open after Katherine Sasser resigned from the Board last month, citing recent anti-transgender state legislation as a reason.

The list of candidates includes:

  • Jan Mees
  • Chuck Basye
  • Phil Stroessner
  • John Potter
  • Della Streaty-Wilhoit
  • Andrea Lisenby
