COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Board of Education approved a new contract for Superintendent Brian Yearwood on Monday.

The contract, which goes into effect with the new Columbia Public Schools fiscal year on July 1, includes a $239,000 salary, which is a $9,000 -- or about 4% -- raise over his current pay. The contract includes annual raises through 2025 of anywhere from 1% to 10% a year.

Yearwood will also get a $7,500 yearly transportation allowance.

Yearwood took over for former superintendent Peter Stiepleman, who retired at the end of the last school year.
