Columbia College students move into dorms during heatwave

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Despite hot temperatures, Columbia College students moved into their dorms Wednesday.

Due to the excessive heat, move in time was moved up to 9 a.m. Move-ins were originally set to begin at noon. The ABC 17 News Stormtrack Weather Team issued a Weather Alert Day through Friday.

Hydration stations and cooling areas with fans were accessible during the day to keep people from overheating.

One parent, who helped her child move into the dorms, thought the college handled everything very well.

"It was hot but luckily, Columbia College moved things up a couple hours. So, that was very helpful and smart on their part. And it was very beneficial to everybody," Anne Sievers said.
