Stephens College announces largest undergraduate enrollment numbers in a decade
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Stephens College announced in a Tuesday press release that its incoming fall undergraduate enrollment is up 60% from last year.
More than 400 undergraduate students begin classes Monday, as well as 175 graduate students, the release says.
The release cites new scheduling methods and a scholarship program as reasons for the increase.
The school began “block scheduling,” this fall, which allows students to enroll in one class at a time, with each class running three-and-a-half weeks, the release says. It also introduced the Stephens Promise Scholarship in the spring, which gives “free tuition to students whose adjusted family income does not exceed $75,000, who maintain a 3.3 grade point average, and who live on campus.”
“We are thrilled to welcome such a large and dynamic group of students to Stephens College,” Stephens College President Dianne Lynch said in the release. “This is our 191st academic year, and we continue to be that innovative and nimble institution that always puts today’s students first.”
