ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Southern Boone County R-1 School District is looking to fill a vacancy on its board of education, following the passing of Board member Crystal Branch, according to an email from school spokesman Matt Sharp.

Branch passed away on Feb. 24, according to her obituary.

The email says the district is following its Board Policy to fill the open seat. The application is open now and will run two weeks, ending at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 3. Applications can be downloaded from the school district’s website, or they can be picked up from the Southern Boone Central Office.

The email states that a special school board meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4. Board members will then review the application and either pick candidates for interviews or make a final selection from the applications received, the email states.

The new board member will be sworn in at the Monday, April 15 board meeting, the email states.
