Columbia Airport to lease space to MACC for aviation technology program
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia City Council on Monday approved an agreement with Moberly Area Community College to lease space from Columbia Regional Airport for an aviation technology program, according to a Tuesday release from the city.
The release states that the program will be a Federal Aviation Administration-certified program that can lead to an associate’s degree in applied sciences. The program, according to the release, will include a private pilot course, commercial pilot course, instrument rating course, multi-engine aircraft course and an elective flight instructor course. The release also states that coursework include training in a flight simulator.
The lease begins Jan. 1 and includes options to renew the contract.
The release states that MACC will lease about 1,900 square feet at the airport’s old terminal for office space and classrooms. The school will rent the space for about $15 per square foot and will be responsible for “buildout costs,” which will cost around $287,320.
