FAYETTE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Fayette R-3 School District is one of 20 schools who will implement a new student performance-tracking system in addition to the MAP Test.

The district was approved for a three-year innovation waiver by the Missouri State Board of Education.

The Board’s waiver does not waive federal requirement for administering MAP assessments and reporting MAP results, according to an email from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

“Missouri’s Assistant Commissioner of Education Lisa Sireno addressed the board on Aug. 15, on behalf of the Success-Ready Students Network,” Fayette Superintendent Brent Doolin said in an email on Wednesday. “The SRSN includes 20 System Design Zone public school districts from across the state, which will now use growth-based assessments to replace MAP as the sole state measure of academic achievement. The districts will use information from growth-based assessments to design an accountability system that supports students in being high school, college, career and workplace ready.”

Doolin said the new system begins this year and will run through the 2025-26 school year.

He said some elements of the new system includes measuring student growth multiple times a year; providing immediate feedback to students, teachers and parents; helping students set goals and implement different pathways and pacing to learn; and have student engagement in real-world learning experiences that support high school, college, career and workplace readiness.

“Fayette R-III is proud and excited to be a part of the SRSN as we engage in laying the foundation of more meaningful assessment used in our accountability and accreditation systems,” Doolin said. “We believe this work will have a positive impact for our students and educators.”
