The Southern Boone Board of Education made changes to the district's coronavirus plan to include addressing bullying but stopped short of making masks mandatory.

The board made the changes after two public input sessions this week in which parents spoke passionately for and against masks. The plan makes masks optional, saying that a new health order requiring them could trigger a mandate.

High numbers of cases could trigger a mandate under the plan, as well.

Classes begin Sept. 7.
