Many school districts are just a month away from returning to classes for the fall.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases remain at levels not seen since the winter, before vaccines were widely available. Vaccination rates continue to lag in Mid-Missouri, as well.

Health experts say more children are being infected. However, in most cases, their COVID-19 cases are milder than in older people. Many parents say they aren't worried too much about the risk. And older students are eligible for the vaccine.
