COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Many school districts around Mid-Missouri have canceled classes ahead of another round of snow.

Some school districts, which had initially called in snow routes or late starts, have since decided to close for the day.

Helias Catholic School, Cole County R-V in Eugene, Latham R-V, California R-I and many others decided to cancel school. Some districts like Eldon R-I and Jamestown C-I initially decided they would still have classes but later closed instead.

Jefferson City School District, Fulton Public Schools and Camdenton R-III have also closed down for the day.

After tweeting early Wednesday about a two-hour delay, Blair Oaks Superintendent Jim Jones called off school for his district. St. Francis Xavier in Taos, St. Stanislaus in Wardsville and St. Thomas the Apostle schools were also closed along with Blair Oaks.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Team called a Weather Alert Day for an additional shot of snow which could add to our existing total already on the ground. The forecast said below freezing temperatures will stick around through the weekend.
