Mexico woman faces multiple drug charges after a months-long investigation

An Audrain County prosecutor has charged a Mexico woman on drug charges after a months-long investigation.

Stefanie Lavender is charged with two counts of drug possession, unlawful possession of a firearm, keeping or maintaining a public nuisance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

A confidential informant messaged Lavender multiple times looking to “buy 5 worth of tree and 5 worth of dabs” through Facebook multiple times from July 15 through August 4, according to court documents. Investigators say trees is slang for marijuana according to court documents.

A search warrant was issued for Lavender’s Facebook account on Oct. 22.

On Nov. 9, a search warrant was executed to search Lavender’s residence in Mexico. Law enforcement found over two pounds of marijuana, other drugs, multiple guns and over $5,000 in cash.

Lavender’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 4.
