Lake-area drug task force seizes pounds of meth, marijuana since January

VIENNA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Maries County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that members of a lake area drug task force seized pounds of illegal drugs since New Year's Day.

Deputies say the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group took more than 2.5 pounds of marijuana, as well as more than 3 pounds of methamphetamine off the street over the first quarter of the year. Prescription drugs and other marijuana substances were also seized.

According to a Facebook post from the Maries County Sheriff, the task force seized two meth laboratories, served 19 search warrants, took in 20 firearms and arrested 41 people.

The post added nine of the people were arrested for non-drug related crimes.

The task force covers multiple Mid-Missouri counties including Camden County and Maries County. It covers Hermann, Belle, Owensville and Camdenton as well.

The state highway patrol coordinates for the drug task force.
