Columbia police arrest suspect with federal parole warrant early Friday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police arrested a Columbia man early Friday morning for multiple charges including a federal parole warrant for possession of a weapon.

Jaron Gates, 25, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, felony resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license and a federal parole warrant for possession of a weapon.

At 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of a male brandishing a firearm on the 900 block of Business Loop 70. Officers found the suspect and followed him for a mile before ending a vehicle chase.

Police later identified the man as Gates.

Columbia Police later found Gates on the 1700 block of Burlington Street then took him into custody after a short standoff.

Gates is currently being held without bond at the Boone County Jail.
