Jefferson City man sentenced after burglary and assault cases from Nov. 2020

A Jefferson City man is sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty in burglary and assault cases.

Christopher McCombs, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of felony stealing from a Nov. 3, 2020, incident and a charge of second-degree burglary was dismissed according to online court records.

The victim of the burglary told police the rear basement door had been pried open and multiple building supplies and tools had been stolen and later found his items in the backyard of a residence on the 200 block of Benton Street.

McCombs also pleaded guilty to third-degree assault, resisting arrest and first-degree harassment in a Nov. 11, 2020 incident.

The victim told police that McCombs assaulted the victim and threatened the victim with a knife, according to a probable cause statement.

The judge ordered McCombs' sentences to run concurrently with all other Department of Correction McCombs was facing and given credit for time served.
