Jefferson City School District files motion to dismiss the AG’s lawsuit against mask mandate

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City School District has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit mask mandate from the Attorney General's office.

The motion states Attorney General Eric Schmitt lacks standing under Missouri law.

The Missouri Attorney General's Office filed the lawsuit against the Jefferson City School District over the districts' renewed, temporary mask mandates in January.

According to court documents, AG Schmitt argues school districts don't have the power to impose public health orders for their students.

When we reached out the attorney general's office said "We're going to hold on comment at the moment."
