Montana man gets probation after being charged with parental kidnapping

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Montana man who was charged with parental kidnapping in Jefferson City is now on probation.

A judge placed Gilbert Leigh on supervised probation for five years after he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge this week.

An endangered person advisory was issued in November for his 8-year-old daughter.

Gilbert had been given permission to spend the night of Nov. 6 in a hotel with the child. However, they were found to be gone in the morning. The child was found safe in Russell, Kansas the next night. Leigh was taken into custody.

She was found safe in Kansas later that day and he was taken into custody.
