Trial date set for woman accused of driving while intoxicated and killing motorcycle driver

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A trial date has been set for a woman accused of driving while intoxicated and killing someone.

Susan Hanel is charged in the death of Skylar Maddox after she turned in front of his motorcycle causing him to crash into her car back in November. Hanel was charged with DWI causing death, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and armed criminal action.

A witness told police that Hanel did not have on any headlights, according to a probable cause statement. During a field sobriety test given to Hanel, police reported Hanel couldn't keep her head up, that she was falling over and that she showed other signs of impairment.

According to online court information a hearing was held last week.

The judge denied a motion to reduce her bond which is currently no bond.

A three-day jury trial is scheduled for June 7 at the Boone County Courthouse.

She is still being held at the Boone County Jail.
