Columbia man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in 2020 shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man pleaded guilty to first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection with a killing on Doris Drive in 2020.

Noah Swyers pleaded guilty in the Feb. 5, 2020 shooting death of 17-year-old Joseph Taylor.

Swyers will serve seven years minus any time already served according to online court records.

A resident at the home of the shooting told police two other people along with Swyers broke into a bedroom. The resident also said the other person set down a gun inside the room, which the resident used to fatally shoot the teen.
