Jefferson City woman gets two-year unsupervised probation in Columbia arson case

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City woman has been placed on two years of unsupervised probation in connection with a Columbia arson case from April.

According to online court records, Alruekia Brown-Wells pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree assault.

Brown-Wells was arrested on felony charges of first-degree arson and endangering the welfare of a child, but prosecutors amended those.

A Columbia Police officers responded around 3:20 a.m. on April 5 to the Columbia Square Apartments in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane in connection to a disturbance.

Brown-Wells was arrested at the scene.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the scene and put out the fire. The police department said no one was hurt during the incident.
