Vandalia man charged with child abuse

VANDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Audrain County prosecutor has charged a Vandalia man with child abuse after he allegedly dragged the victim, assaulted her and left bruises on her body.

Jason Baugh is charged with abuse of a child – serious emotional or physical injury and abuse of a child.

According to court documents, Baugh told the victim to jump with her siblings but the victim did not feel well; when Baugh screamed at her. Baugh then allegedly followed the victim in the yard, hit her and then dragged the victim back to the house by her clothes. The victim was reported to have bruising, cuts and petechiae on her arms and legs.

Baugh then allegedly hit the victim’s wrist, leaving a bruise. Then he allegedly put his hands around her neck, choking her and leaving scratch marks on her neck, court documents state. The victim tried to get away and hit Baugh on his arms; Baugh then reportedly punched the victim in the face.

Baugh is currently being held without bond at the Audrain County Jail.

Baugh will have a court docket hearing on Thursday.

According to online records, Baugh does not have a defense attorney yet.
