Holts Summit man charged after a high-speed chase in Callaway County
HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Holts Summit man is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase Thursday afternoon in Callaway County.
A Callaway County prosecutor has charged Jesse Lee James Smith with resisting arrest and driving while revoked/suspended second or third offense.
According to a probable cause statement, a deputy noticed expired tags on a 1999 Chevy Malibu traveling on Route AA and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle sped off and reached speeds of over 100 mph.
Local law enforcement deployed a tire deflation device and was able to stop the chase.
Smith led deputies on a chase for 14 minutes and traveled 18 miles according to court documents.
Smith is being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail. According to online court records, Smith does not have a defense listed at this time.
