Cole County man arrested after chase and manhunt

COLE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

At 3 a.m. Friday, Cole County Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on the 6400 block of Old Bass Road before the vehicle drove off.

Officials report the vehicle crashed on Route A and West Braztio Road, the driver ran away.

Deputies did not find the suspect but found personal items in the vehicle belonging to Charles Yelm.

At 7:25 a.m., a resident in the area of the 9900 block of Valley Home Road saw a suspecious man walking on the road. Deputies responded to the area and tried to find the man but the suspect was not located.

At 11:40 a.m., another citizen called in to report the suspect, this time a nearby state trooper took the man into custody.

The suspect, Yelm, admitted to deputies that he was the one driving the vehicle in the chase Friday morning.

Yelm was taken to the Cole County Jail and is awaiting formal charges according to a press release.
