Driver arrested after chase from Moniteau County Sheriff’s deputies

TIPTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was arrested Wednesday by Moniteau County Sheriff's deputies after a chase began in Tipton.

According to an online release, the driver, Tyler Thomas, 32, was stopped for a registration violation.

After giving the deputy his I.D. during the traffic stop, Thomas drove off.

Thomas drove east on Highway 50 towards California, Mo. reaching speeds up to 60 mph. Deputies deployed tire spikes at the junction of Highway 50 and Highway E.

Thomas's vehicle ran over the spike strip and he drove the vehicle with deflated tires until it reached Scott Branch Road.

Deputies then blocked the vehicle on the shoulder of the roadway, where Thomas turned and drove the vehicle down the grass embankment and struck a drainage ditch and came to a stop.

Thomas was then taken into custody and transported to the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office.

During the investigation, the vehicle was then determined to be stolen out of Camdenton, Mo Wednesday morning.

Thomas is charged with 1st-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Thomas has a $50,000 bond with either 10% cash or surety.
