Columbia man arrested after slow-speed chase on I-70
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Authorities say a Columbia man was arrested early Thursday morning after a slow-speed chase ended on Interstate 70 West.
Alec McCabe, 29, was booked into the Boone County Jail at 4:09 a.m. on suspicion of stealing, resisting arrest and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Columbia Police Department public information officer Jeff Pitts said officers tried to pull over McCabe in the 2200 block of Stadium Boulevard for a traffic violation.
Boone County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Brian Leer said deputies were called in to assist in the chase and set up spike strips on I-70.
McCabe hit the deflation device and continued driving at slow speeds for about a mile before stopping, Leer said.
Boone County Joint Communications said in an alert at 3:18 a.m. a police incident created a traffic hazard near the 123 mile marker where Pitts said the chase had ended.
McCabe was booked into the jail on a $7,500 bond and has since bonded out of custody, jail records said.
