Police chase ends in crash, sending one teen to hospital

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 16-year-old boy suffered moderate injuries when he crashed his car trying to flee police.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports, the teen led law enforcement on a chase shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday. He crashed the vehicle into a guardrail on northbound U.S. 63 at the connector with Interstate 70 in Columbia.

Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert that the northbound lanes were closed shortly before 1 a.m.

The teen was transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries. His car was totaled.

It is unclear if the teen faces charges in the chase.
