BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two men are facing an assault charge after allegedly hitting a man and sending him to the hospital with injuries following an April 18 incident off the 2400 block of West Broadway.

A Boone County prosecutor has charged William Wallace and Colby O'Neal both with first-degree assault.

Columbia police responded to University Hospital on April 18 for a report of an assault. Officials say the victim reported bruising and swelling of the left eye, scratch marks, minor bruising to the right eye, left lung collapse that would require a chest tube to reinflate and a rupture in his neck causing the formation of an air pocket.

The victim told police that he arrived home around 1:30 a.m. when Wallace, O'Neal and a juvenile confronted him about killing O'Neal's girlfriend according to court documents. That is when O'Neal allegedly assaulted him and then Wallace assaulted him. An eyewitness reported the same as the victim's account of events according to a probable cause statement.

Neither Wallace or O'Neal have a defense attorney listed, according to online court records.

According to court records, both men have a warrant for their arrest.
