Columbia man accused of pointing loaded gun at teenager during road-rage incident on I-70

A Columbia man was charged in Cooper County with a felony and a misdemeanor after he allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a teenager during a road-rage incident Saturday night on Interstate 70.

Jalin Crenshaw was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. He was not listed on a jail roster on Monday afternoon. An initial court appearance was scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The probable cause statement says a 17-year-old boy called law enforcement at 10:14 p.m. Saturday after the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck had pointed a gun with a laser at him.

The statement says the victim had flashed his headlights at Crenshaw’s vehicle while he tried to pass him on eastbound I-70 in Cooper County. Crenshaw’s vehicle got in front of the victim’s vehicle again and the victim once again passed him, the statement says.

Crenshaw then allegedly pointed the gun and shined the laser at the victim after he passed his Chevrolet, the statement says.

The victim allegedly followed Crenshaw to Columbia and police found two guns in Crenshaw’s vehicle. Crenshaw alleged he did not pull out the gun until he arrived in Columbia because he was being followed, the statement says. The guns had ammunition loaded in them.
