Range Line Street motel murder suspect appears in court, has hearing set for next week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man accused of killing a woman at a motel on Range Line Street in Columbia appeared in court on Friday for an arraignment.

Nicholas Ayres, 35, of Crane, Missouri, is charged in Boone County with first-degree domestic assault and second-degree murder in the death of Destiny Dunn, 37, of Kansas City. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond and appeared for his hearing by video from the jail.

A bond hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20; while a preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Ayres is accused of beating Dunn to death at the By The Way Motel on Wednesday. Police allegedly found video on Ayres’ cellphone of him abusing Dunn.
