COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man whose arrest on Wednesday that required a large law enforcement response in Vandalia has been charged with nine felonies in Audrain County.
Scott Adams, 41, was charged with first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, two counts of first-degree harassment, two counts of first-degree property damage and a single count of resisting arrest. He is being held without bond and a court date has not been scheduled.
The probable cause statement says law enforcement was called on Tuesday to a residence about an incident involving a gun. One of the victims arrived home and saw Adams, who was not allowed to be at the property, inside the home and told him to leave about 20 times, but he refused, the statement says.
Adams then allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened to return the home, start shooting and burn down the building, court documents say. Another victim gave similar descriptions to deputies, according to court documents.
Deputies were called to the residence again later that night after Adams allegedly broke into the residence again, the statement says. He left before deputies arrived, the statement says.
He then allegedly broke into the home again hours later on Wednesday morning, the statement says. He allegedly threw canned vegetables threw a window and caused more than $1,400 worth of damage, court documents say. He again left before deputies could arrive.
Law enforcement was called to the residence again at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday after Adams allegedly broke more windows with canned vegetables, totaling more than $1,500 worth of damage, the statement says. He also allegedly spray-painted a racial slur in the home, according to court documents. He again left before deputies arrived, the statement says.
A Wednesday social media post from the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office says Adams was arrested at Walsh Boulevard and Lincoln Street and a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper suffered a leg injury during the response.
