COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two men from Mid-Missouri were sentenced Tuesday in separate federal drug cases.

In one of the cases, Jordan Shelton, 42, of Mexico, was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison without parole for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, the release says. He pleaded to the charge on Jan. 21.

The release says on Aug. 10, 2022, police served a warrant at Shelton’s residence after he was identified as a fentanyl capsule supplier. Fentanyl powered and 47 capsules were found, the release says.

In the other case, James Hughes, 30, of Columbia, was sentenced to roughly 10 years in federal prison for drug possession and having a gun in furtherance of drug trafficking. The release says he pleaded guilty to the charges on Feb. 25.

Columbia police found Hughes with 815 fentanyl pills and a gun during a traffic stop on Sept. 21, 2023, the release says.
