Man accused of shooting at someone in car in Miller County

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Mountain View, Missouri, man was charged on Saturday after he allegedly shot at someone on Friday night.

Austin Duncan was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Court records indicate that he posted a $100,000 bond on Monday. An arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 14.

The probable cause statement says that Miller County sheriff’s deputies were called around 11:15 p.m. Friday for a report of shots fired. The victim allegedly told law enforcement that a truck pulled up to their vehicle and someone in the truck threatened to attack the victim, the statement says.

The victim followed the truck to get the license plate number and call law enforcement, the statement says. The vehicle stopped at Brays Church Road and Duncan -- along with four other people -- got out of the truck, court documents say.

Duncan then allegedly shot at the victim, who was still in their car, court documents say. The victim had “very minor injuries” and refused medical service, court documents say. The car was damaged with pellets from the shotgun, the statement says.

Deputies smelled “an intoxicant” on Duncan, court documents say. Duncan also allegedly admitted to shooting the gun, according to the statement.
