Columbia man charged for Saturday night chase

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged with three felonies after he was accused of leading law enforcement on a chase on Saturday night.
Cameron Baker, 19, was charged on Monday with first-degree tampering with a vehicle, aggravated fleeing and endangering the welfare of a child.
He appeared in court on Monday from video from the Boone County Jail and a public defender will be considered for his case. His bond was set at $20,000 and he was not listed on the online jail roster on Monday evening. A hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 29.
According to the probable cause statement, a Boone County sheriff’s deputy saw a red Ford Fusion heading east on East Broadway that sped through a red light near the intersection with Trimble Road. The deputy put on his emergency lights and a chase began.
Baker drove the vehicle around 86 miles per hour on South Keene Street and drove to Interstate 70 Drive Southeast, the statement says. He then drove into a ditch while trying to get onto Interstate 70, crashed the car and got of the vehicle, grabbed a child from the vehicle and tried to run away, the statement says.
Police arrested him and learned from the owner of the car that it was stolen, the statement says.
