Auxvasse man charged with raping teenager for multiple years

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An Auxvasse man was charged with several child sex crimes after he was accused of raping a teenager for several years.
Jacob Brush, 38, was charged Friday in Callaway County with first-degree statutory rape, first-degree rape and second-degree statutory rape. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Monday that Brush is in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for other charges.
The probable cause statement says that the victim went to the sheriff’s office in March to report the assaults, which began when they were 15 years old in 2015 and Brush was 28. The victim allegedly stated that they did not understand what statutory rape was at the time, but received therapy to understand the abuse they suffered, the statement says.
The statement describes several assaults and sexual assaults that occurred over a two-year period, including when the victim moved in with Brush.
Brush allegedly admitted to the sexual assaults occurring during that period, according to the probable cause statement.
“Brush stated he could see how someone else would think his and [the victim’s] relationship was inappropriate,” the probable cause statement says.
