New York woman accused of stealing $20,000 in alleged bank fraud case in Columbia

MGN

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A woman from the state of New York is accused of stealing $20,000 from the bank account of a Columbia resident.

Rosa Rodriguez charged on Tuesday with stealing more than $750. She was not listed on the Boone County Jail roster on Tuesday afternoon and a court date was not set. A motion to set a $20,000 cash bond was also filed on Tuesday.

According to the probable cause statement, police met with the victim on Dec. 20, who stated that Bank of America told him the day before that there were wire transfers from his account that were possibly fraud. Rodriguez’s name appeared on the JPMorgan Chase account the money was transferred to, the statement says.

JPMorgan Chase gave information to police on Jan. 28 that included bank statements from Rodriguez’s account that showed multiple transfers $20,000 on Dec. 19 and 20, the statement says. Three of the withdrawals occurred at an ATM in Hollis, New York, and the last one occurred at a teller desk, the statement says.

Police identified Rodriguez from a Department of Revenue photo and allegedly saw her make the withdrawals on videos dated on Dec. 19 and 20, the statement says.
