Multiple reports of shots fired prompt large police presence in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police were investigating multiple reports of shots fired on Thursday night.

Officers were first dispatched to reports of shots fired at 8:39 p.m. on Business Loop 70 near Interstate 70 in Columbia on Thursday night.

An officer said police received a call from someone claiming two people were shot. Several police vehicles responded to the scene, with officers searching along Business Loop 70, from Creasy Springs Road to Sexton Road.

Officers were seen in the middle of the street, walking up and down an exit ramp and searching an underpass with flashlights.

Police cleared that scene at 9:12 p.m. An officer said no evidence was found.

Police then responded to the Marshalls parking lot on Bernadette Drive after receiving another call from the same person about shots fired. An officer there said no evidence had been found as of 9:40 p.m.
