Camden County commissioner charged with two felonies over alleged license-plate camera theft
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Mid-Missouri presiding county commissioner was issued a summons Thursday for two felonies and a misdemeanor related to the alleged theft of a license plate camera on New Year's Eve.
Todd Isaac Skelton, better known as "Ike," is charged with felony stealing and tampering with a service along with obstructing government operations, a misdemeanor, according to court documents.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol sergeant saw two men near the Flock license-plate camera on Highway 54 near Ballpark Road on New Year's Eve, according to a probable cause statement. Investigators later determined the camera had been removed.
A few days later, camera owner Flock told investigators they lad located the camera via GPS and it was in the area of the Camden County Commissioners' Office, the statement says. Skelton escorted a trooper to where the camera was kept, the statement says.
Flock estimated the camera's replacement cost at about $800.
Special prosecutor Nick Komoroski is handling the case. An initial hearing has been set for April 22.
Skelton was not immediately available for comment.
