Audrain County man accused of raping child in Callaway County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Mexico, Missouri, man was charged on Friday in Callaway County after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child for several years.
Stephen Scott Kitchen, 48, was charged with first-degree statutory rape of a child younger than 12 years old, statutory sodomy of a child younger than 12 years old and sexual misconduct involving a child younger than 15 years old. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, deputies spoke with two witnesses and the victim on Dec. 19. The witnesses saw the child victim wrote in their journal that Kitchen sexually assaulted them on multiple occasions, the statement says. The victim confirmed they wrote the entry and that it was true, the statement says.
The witnesses and victim were interviewed again on Jan. 8, and the victim detailed sexual assaults dating back to 2019, court documents say. The victim was allegedly assaulted 13 or 14 times over the course of several years, the statement says.
Kitchen was interviewed by law enforcement at the Mexico Police Department on Thursday and claimed he used methamphetamine during that time period and would “black out,” but did not describe the assaults in court documents.
