COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who pleaded guilty to several counts related to deceptive business practices has been charged in another county.

Blake Mahoney, of Walnut Shade, Missouri, was charged on Wednesday in Randolph County with stealing more than $25,000 and deceptive business practices. A court date has not been set. A warrant for Mahoney was requested.

He pleaded guilty in 2022 to several charges related to deceptive business practices in Boone County, including stealing more than $25,000, four counts of passing a bad check, financially exploiting an elderly person and deceptive business practices. He was sentenced to probation in 2023. A probation status hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, March 10.

The probable cause statement for the new set of charges says that the victim signed an electronic agreement with Mahoney on Aug. 16, 2024, to build a shop building in Higbee. The victim allegedly paid Mahoney $25,546 for materials and labor and Mahoney allegedly refused to honor the contract, the statement says.

A second man, Trey Atkinson, of Columbia, was charged in the case with stealing more than $25,000 and deceptive business practices. A warrant for Atkinson was also requested.
