COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Eldon man pleaded guilty to first-degree endangering the welfare of a child on Wednesday.

Albert Keel, 28, will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12 in Miller County.

He was accused last year of leaving a loaded handgun on a table while playing video games, court documents in previous reporting say. First responders found a boy dead with a gunshot wound to his head in the 600 block of North Mill Street, previous reporting indicates.

Keel allegedly told law enforcement that he ran into a bedroom to see the victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. Keel told investigators that he believed the victim shot himself.
