Embattled Casa Maria’s owner bonds out of jail, hearing set for January in Butler County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A co-owner of a south side Columbia Mexican restaurant bonded out of jail on Thursday.
Crystal Umfress, of Columbia, is charged with felonies in multiple cases in southeast Missouri. She was initially charged in Dunklin County with second-degree arson in one case and was charged in a second case with two counts of filing false documents and three counts of forgery after she was accused of impersonating county officials and restaurant owners.
Both cases have been moved to Butler County, with the most recent being moved earlier this month. Court records indicate that Umfress posted a $35,000 bond on Thursday. Hearings in both cases have been scheduled for 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Umress was accused last year of hiring Kerry Raymond to set fire to Lupita's Mexican Restaurant, court documents in previous reporting say.
Raymond was also charged with second-degree arson. His case was moved to Stoddard County and his next hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.
