Columbia man charged with domestic assault after allegedly attacking woman with knife
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged on Monday after he allegedly used a knife to attack a woman on Saturday.
Marquan Townsend Sr., 38, was charged with first-degree domestic assault and fourth-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance was held on Monday afternoon.
According to the probable cause statement, police found the victim with a cut on their hand that required stitches, a swollen eye and other markings. She told police that Townsend stabbed her with a knife after he arrived at her residence and threatened to kill her, the statement says.
Townsend then allegedly attacked her and she tried to grab the knife he was holding to get it away from him, and her hand was cut, court documents say. The victim tried to call for police, but Townsend broke her phone, the statement says.
The woman told another person in the home to run to safety while the attack was going on, the statement says.
Police found the blade with blood on it in the kitchen of the home, as well as broken plastic in a bedroom, the statement says.
