A Columbia man pleaded guilty Monday to murdering his father.

Alen Muslic, 23, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a Boone County courtroom. Muslic was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action after police found his father, Zufer Muslic, stabbed to death at their Columbia home in October 2023.

Alen Muslic was initially taken to Fulton State Hospital when he was arrested, police said at the time.

The attack happened in the street and police said they found blood in the street and in the home, including bloody footprints. Alen Muslic allegedly told investigators that they two got into a fight and then Alen decided to stab his father.

Judge Kevin Crane sentenced Muslic to 20 years in prison.
