Third murder suspect takes plea deal in Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A third man suspected of murder in a deadly June 2023 shooting pleaded guilty Friday.
Deljuan Turner, 20, of Columbia, pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder in the killing of Deshon Houston, 33, outside a home on Dove Drive in June 2023. Judge Josh Devine sentenced him to 20 years in prison -- a sentence that is in line with the other two plea deals.
Turner had been charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He was accused of being one of multiple suspects firing from two vehicles -- one of which was stolen and later found crashed -- on Dove Drive that day.
Witnesses described people shooting from the SUV and someone standing up in one vehicle's sunroof and firing a gun.
Turner will get credit for time served.
Another suspect, Alqueze M. Jones, pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder. He also received a 21-year sentence. Bryton S. Allen was sentenced to 20 years in prison in July.
Deazes Turner, 22, and Damarkus Williams, 19, were also charged with first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. They are being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
Alex Glay, 26, of Columbia, pleaded guilty last week to hindering prosecution and resisting arrest.
Glay was accused of helping Ja'Shaun Barney try to escape police on Nov. 2, 2023. Barney is charged with first-degree murder. He has a hearing set for Jan. 6.
Jajuan Crocket, 21, was charged with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, first-degree vehicle tampering, accessory to stealing a gun, stealing $750 or more and tampering with evidence. He has a hearing set for Jan. 10.
