COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man who suffered serious injuries after an altercation last week has died, a press release from the Columbia Police Department says.

Antonio Davis, 56, of Columbia, died Friday, police wrote. The release says that after Davis’ death, officials are looking to charge Felicia L. Hay, 33, and Alexander A. Aklan, 28, with murder. Those charges have not appeared yet on Casenet.

Hay and Aklan were charged with first-degree assault earlier this week. Aklan was also charged with armed criminal action, drug trafficking and unlawful use of a weapon. Both people are being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.

The two are accused of assaulting Davis, with Aklan knocking him to the ground by pistol-whipping him, causing the victim to hit his head and be rushed to a hospital with a brain bleed, according to court documents in previous reporting says. Hay kicked the victim, the statement says.
